Fashion tips in Miami

The question What favors me? It is universal to all women, but the answer should not be. According to an expert image consultant, each woman has to do her homework and get to know herself to be able to decide for herself what feels good to her. In this way you can select from fashion and avoid being dragged by your opinions, which in many cases is not the most flattering.

Mónica Gómez-Cuétara is a Spanish image consultant with a long professional career and pioneer of this profession in her homeland.

He now lives in Miami and has recently started some online courses that have aroused a lot of enthusiasm since this career is new, especially in Spain and Latin America.

Monica’s profession, although new in many countries, has been in force in the United States for many years. We have all observed in any department store, the numerous counters that follow one another, usually on the ground floor, where they sell creams and makeup. Around them, a fleet of expert makeup artists advise and recommend creams and colors that can improve your skin and your image.

“It all starts with the color,” says Monica, pulling a color chart out of her bag. “Do not think too much and tell me the colors you are attracted to, the ones you choose will be the ones that feel good to you and the ones you should wear because we are born with a tendency to choose what really favors us, but along the way we lose it.” The adviser points out very confidently. He also explains that there are warm colors and cool colors with shades that resemble the four seasons of the year.

In the department stores of the United States of a certain level, such asNordstrom Sacks Fith Avenue and Neiman Marcus they provide you if you wish, an image consultant when you go shopping. If you ask for this service in “costumer service” they will call you to a “personal Shopper”, who will advise you for free.
This person will ask you several key questions to define your style and your needs, such as where you work, if you go out a lot at night, if you like skirts or pants, what is your pace of life, and with each answer the image of your ideal wardrobe will be created.

With this information under the arm personal shopper will tour the store and recommend sets that are consistent with your rhythm of life, your morphology and your color. The garments you select will take them to the fitting room and stay to see how they feel you. In the United States where people live very busy it is a good way to replace a friend who gives you advice when buying.

Another type of image consultant is the one that the client hires directly to advise him, buy clothes or create a wardrobe background within a colorful and stylish frame. This advisor does not have to be faithful to a particular store and will go through several stores choosing the garments that they consider fit within your budget.

Gomez-Cuetara, began to notice this profession when she lived in the United States as a child. In Spain she studied graphic design and photography and worked as an image director for the warehouses of El Corte Ingles in Madrid.

“My life was aesthetics, I loved coordinating and organizing and when I graduated I had the opportunity to start doing what I liked in Carrefour stores. Image consulting did not exist then and there I learned a lot about fabrics, their peculiarity and things that I did not know, such as that each country has a different way of dressing.”

Cuétara points out that image consulting is more complicated than it seems and there are many challenges for example something as simple as a men’s shirt, can become an international challenge since it varies drastically in workmanship and color from one country to another.

“For example, the shirts of the Spaniards, most have a white background, because we like the luminosity and then on top they can have stripes or checks. A Frenchman doesn’t like so much definition or care so much that they have a white background. The collar of the Spaniards for example is much shorter so the shirts sold in Spain are short-necked. The French have more collars and are not aware of the size of the collar of the shirt.”

According to the advisor many of these decisions are not made at a conscious level but when man looks in a mirror he makes them naturally. Women, says Cuétara, are more likely to follow trends and not their instincts and this makes them very wrong when choosing.

“For example, many of us choose a color that is fatal to us but if it is fashionable we wear it. It is much more difficult to convince the woman until she turns 40 or 45. At that age he usually knows what suits him and what feels bad and does not screw up so much. ”

Cuétara highlights that there are also differences in dress styles that define a country although women’s fashion is more global. The image consultant stresses that in Europe many women have forgotten the feminine part in the dress and try, especially in the workplace, not to mark the forms.

“In Europe, especially in Italy, they cover the female parts because they consider that if they do not they are taking advantage of their women’s weapons, that is, sex appeal and that is not correct when equality is demanded. In New York, on the other hand, working women are still female.”

Cuétara also points out that it is very important to know what your strengths are and make the most of them by paying attention to these attributes. According to her, all women in the end know each other well, because we are very critical of ourselves.

“We are all dressed to be looked at. What you have to ask yourself is where you want to be looked at, the face, the waist, the legs, if you have them beautiful or the eyes and emphasize there. We can’t go full of accessories because then people don’t know where to look and elegance is lost.”

Image consulting is a whole new specialty, which according to Cuétara, helps women to discard what they have learned and to listen to themselves with a personalized knowledge of what enhances their beauty. The good image consultant not only chooses but does not teach.

“All women are beautiful,” says the counselor.”

The online course that Cuetara teaches lasts 6 months and is also worth learning how to organize a wardrobe so that everything goes with everything, how to avoid buying excessive quantities things that you will never wear, how to combine fabrics and how to save time and money.

Also for the young girls who begin to groom and show off and for their mothers Cuétara will do a course four consecutive Saturdays in Miami in Coral Gables. He is also writing a book on the subject.
