The Brickell area lies south of the mouth of the Miami River, which separates it from downtown – “Downtown” – proper. Its natural boundaries are the Miami River to the north, Biscayne Bay to the east, 32nd Street SE Road to the south, and I-95 to the west. To the area belongs the small island Brickell Key linked by a bridge to the city and luxury condominiums.
About 100 banking companies have offices in the north area of Brickell, preferably business, while the south zone has about 8,000 homes, mostly high purchasing power.
In recent years Brickell has become one of the most important areas and city centers in the country due to the great boost to the economy handled by the companies that have headquarters there. Major banks, large export-import companies and major multinational firms are located in the tall skyscrapers of Brickell.
